My takeaway from this class:

Having a new perspective to the concept of pattern, the meaning of pattern is different when it applied in a timeline, it’s all about rhythm. A dance would also be nothing out of the range of time. It’s the beauty of math that construct patterns. Creating an intriguing video sequence that has great pattern is the same as creating a wonderful music piece. It’s the relationship between notes that differentiate one piece of music from another, same as the pattern in video/sound. I remembered, when I learned how to paint and sketch, there’s a phase where I realized that a great painting has rhythm hidden (black, grey, white, black, grey, white).

Sketches of Moon

For the last project, I am looking for representation of pattern in the nature that’s involve with time. I also want to work with shape that’s abstract, in geometric shapes, such as circle, square, triangle, polygon. Then I think about the moon, and the sun. It’s so familiar to us, but yet so geometric, almost as perfect as a circle in digital screen. The shape of the light and shadow on the moon changed gracefully in each month, it has an interesting changing pattern.

The other day I saw this work of Studio of Olafur Eliasson, the sun leaves a simple trace.
